Hello fellow SEO people, welcome to this week’s SEO News. Let’s take a look at what’s in store for this week.
Twitter has recently removed the NoFollow attribute from links. While Google has yet to respond or released a statement in relation to this move by Twitter, the general consensus online has not been a good one.
People have been speculating that this move by Twitter would turn an already spam link culture on Twitter into one that is even more spammy.
Additionally, the general understanding by SEO professionals is that Google will unlikely grant any sort of link juice to links stepping from Twitter just like what is practiced with other social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Google has announced a new reporting update for its Google Search Console. This would change from the previous reporting which separates reporting into errors, valid with warning and valid to valid and invalid.
Google hopes that the new reporting system, which comprises valid which are pages & items without critical issues, and invalid which are pages & items with the critical issue, that it would help users in prioritizing and identifying critical issues.
Critical issues in this context would be issues that would hinder Google from indexing and ranking a certain page or content.
Microsoft announced that it would pull support for the Internet Explorer which has been serviced for 27 years and instead shift focus to Chromium-based search browser, Microsoft Edge instead.
Windows users would have Microsoft Edge as their default search browser instead of Internet Explorer and existing Internet Explorer users would also be directed to Microsoft Edge.
So, let’s have a moment of silence for Internet Explorer. Shall we?
That’s it for this week’s SEO News people. What do you think about this week’s news? Is Internet Explorer your first-ever search browser? Leave a comment below.
