Yay, it’s Friday again! As usual, it’s time again for our weekly round of SEO news updates, and here’s a quick overview of what happening this week.
Now let’s dive deeper into each news tidbit.
When Google first launched a “short videos” section display among its search results, it was just showing YouTube videos.
But recently, we have also spotted Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram videos in this short video carousel. And here’re some quick screenshot.
Google has finally rolled out a new interface for key moments videos after they have tested for a year.
The final result now shows the location of the key moment but also adds the text from the video regarding what the section is about.
This used to be video clips or thumbnails from the section of the video but now it shows text and here’s a quick screenshot for illustration.
It came up in a conversation where Google’s John Mueller was asked if it would help to have a site timestamped its content and pages using blockchain.
To which he replied, Google doesn’t use that. These setups have come up from time to time. And since they don’t affect Google (positively or negatively, as far as I can tell), if you find them useful for yourself, there’s no harm in using them.
John Mueller from Google recently tweeted a statement that involved the mentions of technically and practically indexed which he later clarified the differences.
Well, both are actually and “technically” indexed but even though they are both indexed, the “technically indexed” one is not really visible in search but the practically indexed one is visible in search.
John explained it as “Indexed & practically seen in normal search results vs not seen. It comes up often with old/removed content, site-moves, robot URLs, etc. Technically, it might be indexed, but is it worth the time to fix something nobody sees & which doesn’t cause issues?”
Microsoft announced several updates to Bing Search to make the search experience more visually immersive.
This update goes across many different search features including recipe results, image search similar looking items, expandable search result carousels, infographic knowledge panel, and the design of the local answer.
Here are some screenshots for illustration:
And this concludes our weekly SEO news! Stay tuned next week.
