Hello fellow readers, welcome to another week of SEO news. I hope you’re having a fantastic week so far! This week, we have some pretty exciting news.
Google is now testing out a new feature to the People Also Ask section. This new feature will see two answers to the People Also Ask sections. This means that it is now more worthwhile for webmasters to structure their content to target the People Also Ask sections.
However, it is not all a bed of roses for webmasters. In SEO forum threads, webmasters have been raising concern that this move by Google would potentially reduce traffic to websites as their content has been lifted to form answers under the People Also Ask sections.
A Twitter user has also noticed that Google has started to test out highlights for the People Also Ask sections.
While it may be nothing new, as Google has already tested out highlighting in featured snippets, however, it should be noted that Google is now pouring its focus on the People Also Ask section. Hence, it may be worthwhile to structure your content in a way that is in line with the People Also Ask section.
If you have been following the SEO news, you would know that Google has recently introduced HTTPS reporting in the Search Console.
Following this introduction, there has been some chatter/confusion online on the HTTPS reporting around a specific error.
The error is worded in a way webmasters would think HTTPS might prevent a page from being indexed.
In response to this confusion, Google’s John Mueller explained that this error does not mean the URL won’t be indexed. It means Google has never seen the URL or has been the URL but has not crawled it yet. Google may also be indexing the HTTP version of that URL instead for the time being.
John Mueller has also said they will update the warnings to make them “less scary.”
That wraps up our weekly SEO update! And as always, let us know if there’s any important news we missed out on below. Have a safe weekend, and I’ll see you again next week!
