People Also Ask section appears less frequently on SERP | July 2022 Week 2

By on July 15, 2022

Hey there fellow SEO readers, in the blink of an eye we are already halfway through July. Let’s check out some of the SEO news that we have for today, shall we?

  • Google Search Console introducing new video indexing reports
  • People Also Ask section appears less frequently on SERP
  • Google testing Rich Card Layouts for celebrity searches

11/7 – Google Search Console introducing new video indexing reports

Google Search Console will be introducing a new feature that reports on your website’s video indexing.

Through the introduction of this new reporting feature, you can tell:

  • The number of pages that Google has identified a video
  • Videos that have been successfully indexed by Google
  • Issues that are preventing your videos from being indexed

The new Google Search Console video indexing report would be rolled out in the next few months and would look something like this.

People Also Ask section appears less frequently on SERP

Recently, tracking from both RankRanger and SEMRush has detected that there has been a drastic drop in People Also Ask sections in Google.

With this decrease in People Also Ask sections appearing on SERP, would this mean that performing your keyword/topical research for your content would be less effective on Google?

Is Google publishing content writers adopting keyword research tools? Or do you think this is a temporary bug that will soon be addressed by Google?

14/7 – Google testing Rich Card Layouts for celebrity searches

Google is currently testing out a Rich Card Layout for certain celebrities.

As you can see above, the layout shows at times the net worth of the celebrity and at other times would show the age of the celebrity together with the top news.

It seems that Google is arranging the Rich Card Layout through what is the most commonly searched by users.

I tried performing searches for currently trending celebrities such as Elon Musk or Johnny Depp but it seems Google has not awarded them a Rich Card Layout just yet!

Thus, it is quite unclear how Google chooses which celebrities are getting awarded with a Rich Card Layout.

That’s it!

What do you think of this week’s news? Do you think that Google is slowly transitioning out the use of the People Also Ask section or is it a temporary bug? Let me know in the comments below.
