Semrush collaborates with SurferSEO | June 2022 week 5

By sheldonwong on July 1, 2022

Hello there fellow SEO enthusiasts, welcome to another week of SEO News. There is some quite interesting news for this week so I’m pretty excited myself. Let’s see what we have in store for this week, shall we?

  • Semrush collaborates with SurferSEO
  • Google adds Pros & Cons data to Snippets
  • Google explains how to inject canonical tags using Javascript

27/6 – Semrush collaborates with SurferSEO

SurferSEO recently announced that it will be collaborating with Semrush to provide a competitor backlink indexing list for its users.

The collaboration will be an expansion to SurferSEO’s Grow Flow feature that gives users “bite-sized” tasks to optimize their website. Users would now receive a list of up to 20 backlinks per week that shows backlinks that are linking to the competition.

However, do note that to enjoy this feature, you must have a subscription to both SurferSEO and Semrush. Alternatively, if you do not have a subscription to SurferSEO, you can opt for a free trial version of SurferSEO for 7 days.

Users can probably look forward to more collaboration between the two tools with both parties teasing that the partnership is just getting started.

29/6 – Google adds Pros & Cons data to Snippets

Google has recently introduced a new pros and cons feature to snippets so users can now see the pros and cons of the product they are searching for from the meta description of the snippet.

But how does Google find this information?

Well, a Twitter user reported that Google will try to understand your website’s writing and extract them accordingly to form the pros and cons section.

30/6 – Google explains how to inject canonical tags using Javascript

Google has updated its help document to add a new section that explains to users how to inject canonical link tags using JavaScript.

However, this method is not recommended by Google. Additionally, Google says that incorrect implementations that have conflicting or multiple rel=”canonical” link tags may lead to unexpected results.

The End

That is all for this week. What do you think of this week’s news? Are you intrigued by Semrush and SurferSEO’s collaboration? Leave a comment below.
