Guest Posting For SEO Reasons | December 2022 Week 1

By sheldonwong on December 2, 2022

Hello fellow readers. Welcome to another week of SEO news weekly. Let’s see what SEO news we have for this week.

  • Guest Posting For SEO Reasons
  • Is There Such A Thing As SEO Compliance Score?
  • Google With Algorithms To Detect AI Plagiarized Content

28/11 – Is There Such A Thing As SEO Compliance Score?

Google’s Danny Sullivan was recently asked about SEO Compliance Score in a forum. In response, he said there is no one metric to measure a website’s SEO readiness, such as SEO Compliance Score.

He added that Google’s Search Essentials has constantly told webmasters to focus on the same factors, which are:

  • Avoid technical errors that prevent indexing content
  • Don’t spam
  • Consider some best practices for producing content meant for humans

30/11 – Guest Posting For SEO Reasons

In a recent SEO poll by Marie Haynes, almost half of SEOs said that they do so even when Google has announced that Guest posting goes against their policy.

Google has said guest posts should be nofollowed and not dofollowed as they are more like ads rather than natural content.

Duy Nguyen from Google’s Search Quality Team was asked, ” Why does Google keep using backlinks as a ranking factor if link-building campaigns are not allowed?”

He said that Google has algorithms to detect unnatural links at scale. and nullify them. So, link-building campaigns are a waste of money. Additionally, backlinks have a lot less significant impact than they do a few years back and will continue to have even less impact in the future.

However, the main reason that SEOs are still using guest posts for ranking factors is that there is still a long list of sites ranking high on SERP with dofollow links for guest posts.

Google With Algorithms To Detect AI Plagiarized Content

Duy Nguyen from Google’s Search Quality Team has recently said that scraping content, even with some modification, is against Google’s spam policy. He said that Google detects scraped content and demotes them.

This may sound good in theory, but the reality is that Google has no way to tell whether a piece of content is AI-generated or otherwise. That is why you see a long list of websites being able to rank well on SERP with plagiarized content; sometimes, they don’t even try to paraphrase their content.

That’s It!
