19/10/2021- Google Survey Asks If You Want Ad Free Search Results For Paid Subscription

Apparently Google has been asking some users via a Google opinion rewards survey whether people will be interested in paying a subscription price for Google Search without ads. So basically, the results you get won’t show any ads. We know Google is familiar with paid subscriptions with Youtube as an example but it will be quite interesting to see what they do for the search results if this is ever implemented.

19/10/2021- Google My Business Replaces Led Attributes With Owned

So Google My Business used to label business attributes like women-led when they were women-owned or veteran-led when they were veteran-owned. Now they just replaced everything with owned so you have women-owned, black-owned etc.

19/10/2021- Ping Search Engines With URLs For Instant Indexing With IndexNow

Microsoft Bing and Yandex have announced a new initiative named IndexNow that lets site owners ping IndexNow’s protocol to achieve instant indexing with the participating search engines. The participating search engines right now are only Bing and Yandex; Google is not a part of it, nor are other search engines as of yet.

There is a website at IndexNow.org that summarizes what this is about, “IndexNow is an easy way for websites owners to instantly inform search engines about latest content changes on their website. In its simplest form, IndexNow is a simple ping so that search engines know that a URL and its content has been added, updated, or deleted, allowing search engines to quickly reflect this change in their search results.”

20/10/2021- Google Search Algorithm Updates Are More Extreme This Year

According to Semrush data, Google search results have been 68% more volatile on desktop and 84% more volatile on mobile compared to the previous year. Not very sure why this is happening but hopefully it doesn’t continue for too long
